The title transfer

What it is

The transfer is the change of the vehicle's owner in the register. The car stays the same; what changes is who is answerable for it.

The steps

1. Check the car and the title before closing the deal. Do not sign anything with the car unseen.
2. Sign the transfer with the seller. Both of you bring photo identification.
3. The buyer keeps the title and files the transfer at the DTOP.
4. Do not hand over the car without full payment, and do not pay in full without taking the title.

The transfer is filed at the DTOP. The agency publishes the current forms and requirements.
